Designer plus size dresses: We can wear them! And we can look good!

It does not come as a surprise when overweight ladies come up to you and whine that they haven’t worn a dress since ages, or rather since the time they gained weight which has come close to years. I find it unfair that these women feel that they will be unable to ‘carry off’ a dress and one day when a full sized friend of mine had the same complaint I turned around and scolded her for thinking so less of herself. However, she did have a point that many stores do not have dresses that would complement a heavy figure and only store representatives with perfect dressing sense could help one out if they wished to buy dresses for a full sized figure. Sadly, that was not possible since when you entered a shop where pretty dresses were sold, sales representatives just looked at you and backed away. That is when I suggested going for a store that solely sold plus sized designer dresses.

When my friend googled designer plus size dresses, she came across a number of physical and online stores that gave the overweight woman the perfect dress to don at any formal, semi, formal or casual occasion. The best part about these stores like IGIGI, Anna Scholz, Ellen Tracy, Carmen Marc and Maximum Woman was that not only did the women have a large variety of dresses to choose from, the sales representatives took an abundant interest in the grooming of the woman, making her try out so many dresses that she felt immensely special. Never before this was she given so much of a choice that she would have difficulty choosing the best one she wanted to wear. Such was the popularity of these Designer plus size clothing that women found themselves travelling for more than four hours to reach a particular designer store to get their perfect dress.

Not surprisingly, the effect of donning these dresses was immensely positive. Women found themselves being complemented left, right and centre and became an instant hit at their social gatherings. They increasingly began to feel that they had the grace that was needed to carry off a dress, whether short or long, whether black or white. They challenged those who said to them that a dress could not compliment them. They fought the stereotype. Finally they raised the question ‘Who says overweight people cannot wear dresses?’ Sure they can!
